Twice a year, I offer a 12-week online creative writing programme, during which we work on different kinds of writing, from speeches and memes to stories and plays. This is an intensive programme that I offer to two age-groups: ages 9-11, and ages 12-14. We have twelve online interactions of one hour each, but more, the participants have access to a private, password-protected forum where they share their work and receive feedback.
During these twelve weeks, I also invite experts to conduct writing and illustration workshops so that the participants can explore a range of writing formats.
At the end of twelve weeks, I choose the best pieces that the children have edited well based on the feedback they’ve received and compile an e-magazine. Scroll to the bottom of the page to look through all eight issues.
Both batches for ages 9-11 are sold out, and there is only one seat left at the second batch for ages 12-14, beginning April 2026!
FAQs
Children who love writing!
During the course of 12 weeks, participants write and submit several assignments. While there is interactive group-work, activities and games, the participants must be aware that the focus is creative writing. They need to be prepared to write at length without thinking of it as a burden.
Children who struggle with English would not be a good fit for the programme. The focus of the programme is not language teaching or grammar correction. Rather, it is for children who love books and enjoy reading.
The regular fee for a 12-week writing programme (ages 9+) is ₹17,000 per participant. If you sign up in a pair/group, you can pay the buddy fee of ₹14,000 per head. As there is only one seat left at my writing programme, the buddy fee is applicable only across programmes, i.e., if one child signs up for the writing programme and the other for another programme.
The fee includes twelve online interactions with me, 2-3 guest sessions, and access to a private forum with regular writing prompts and feedback. Each batch will have no more than 6 participants to ensure personal attention and individual feedback.
During each writing programme, I also organise three guest sessions. While the sessions are free for those who are part of the programme, they are also open to non-participants on payment of a fee of ₹500.
No, sorry. I do not offer trial sessions or refunds.
As I allow only six children to sign up for each batch of my writing programme, it is no longer possible for me to offer a seat on a trial-basis.

The next batch will begin in April 2026.
For ages 9-11, the summer batches are now sold out. Look out for the one beginning in October 2026!
My writing programmes take place twice a year – from April to June, and from October to December. Registrations for each batch open one month prior to the programme.
- Poetry – While many children claim not to like poetry, most of them confess they like it once we’re done with the module! Poetry writing prepares us for the longer, more challenging writing that follows. This is not to say that poetry is not challenging; it is! However, because it is typically briefer, it feels more accessible. We will work with unique poetic forms that the participants may not have heard of before, as well as more conventional rhyming verse.
- Drama – Drama is always fun! Plus, it lays the foundation of dialogue writing that we need for the story module that follows. For three weeks, we’ll explore drama, working on how we allow stories to unfold before an audience.
- Stories – More and more, I encounter children who have published books through platforms like Bri. While it is wonderful to have exposure of this sort, working on the craft of writing, rather than rushing into publication, is important. During the last half of our programme we will work with different kinds of stories, focusing on writing complete, well edited pieces.
All work is shared on a private, password-protected forum. Every participant will get a username and password, which they will be able to access from right through the course.
You’re welcome to join the next one! Most of my participants are regulars who join session after session. For each age-group, I offer multiple courses and workshops right through the year.
Additionally, during the April to June 2022 batch of my writing programme, we created an e-magazine for the first time. This was such a rewarding experience that moving forward, we will create two issues each year. Download the latest issue here.
No, I will not be recording the online interactions.
For the writing programmes, however, I share a brief overview of each class on the forum where they will share their work, along with the details of the assignments to be completed.
No. While we will discuss how to publish a book, the purpose of the course is to work towards writing better, not producing a book at the end.
Additionally, during the April to June 2022 edition of the writing programme, we created an e-zine for the first time. This was such a rewarding experience that it will now be part of each edition of my online writing programme. Download the latest issue here.
Each participant may share one finished piece with me at any point after the course is over (maximum 3,000 words). I will read it and provide feedback.
Yes, I do. Please visit my school visits page for more details.
Write to me! And no, I don’t use WhatsApp.
